The deliberate and deadly attacks which were carried out yesterday against our country were more than acts of terror. They were acts of war.

War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.

Be convinced that to be happy means to be free and that to be free means to be brave. Therefore do not take lightly the perils of war.
